TV Channels should have cricket/sports experts instead of “so-called” sports journalist!

More disgusting than a defeat in cricket match is the news; views and reviews about that defeat on so-called best TV channels. There is no technicality behind any thing, no ethics, and no sense to say a single thing about cricket. They only know how to pull a leg and how to make this defeat so crispy that the anger of the common man of this country can be cashed.

Let’s talk about the first Test between India and England. The fact is that England had an upper edge in that match. But, the reason behind it was not batter cricket played by English team, as our viewless media suggest. It was heavily because of highly varying weather conditions. On the very first day of test match, the sun was shining and it was almost a perfect weather to bat on. England opening batsmen were very couscous as it was the start of a new series against a tough team (At least English team has a different view on this matter then to our media). Unfortunately, Dinesh Kartik had dropped a catch, which could be easily grabbed even by my grandmother. But that was, by any mean, can’t be a fault of a bowler. And then by the end of they day, we have picked 4 wickets and only 268 odd runs on the board, but, “Sharamnaak pardershan” was the first quote in a breaking new of one of the best channel. Can anybody ask them the meaning of the word “Sharamnaak”?

Come to the 2nd day, new bowl was taken at 272/4 and we bundle England on 298. we took 6 wickets in a span of 26 runs. These six wickets include the wickets of likes of Kevin Pieterson and Matt Prior. Vow! What a performance. I could have been easily fascinated, if I would be a sports journalist in any of big channel, what the hell our bowlers have taken on that particular morning in the breakfast. But it was nothing much special from bowler’s side. Only a bit improvement in the length then the previous day, but a drastic change in weather and the bowl was moving like any thing and there was a lil bit of moisture in the wicket after the overnight rain. In such conditions, our batsmen play nicely and were at 145/4 at the end of the day. But then comes the media for media trial. “Bowlers have improved immensely but batsman let the country down” was the conclusion of highly qualified sports journalist of electronic media.

Same thing keep happening till last day of test match. Most of the time when England have batted, condition were good, and if not good then at least were not worse to bat on. And most of the time when we batted, it was hardly wonderful. Even then we give a good fight for five days and were able to save the match. I’ll be agreeing with the critics for the way Zaher and RPSingh throw their wickets. They were not the demanding shots for the moment and they fall because of bad batting instead of good bowling. And yes, they can’t hide themselves behind the fact that they were bowlers and not batsmen. Being a bowler you don’t have the privilege to throw your wicket when your country need them the most. But that is a different issue to discuss.

Here, I only want to mention that not even a single day, of this test match, media have talked about the actual facts but talked only about outcome of the day. And it is not there fault because they have not done it intentionally, but the reality is that they must not have any idea about this game or the technique of the game. They are simple journalist who some time knows how to play with words but hardly anytime have an idea how to play the game. I am certainly missing the sports experts on TV and not even like to watch the news with they way they are presented today. And I firmly believe, that with the inclusion of sports experts, media will improve a lot at least in the field of sports.
